About Yoga Therapy


Yoga Therapy is a holistic healthcare modality that uses specific yogic tools to address physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs. These tools include: physical exercises to strengthen and improve circulation, flexibility and balance; mental exercises such as concentration, sensory awareness, and imagination challenges; meditation practices to calm the mind, build awareness and connection; breathing exercises to energize, calm, balance, and strengthen; energy explorations using the Chakra system; lifestyle counseling for creating ease and balance in everyday life; and whole food nutrition education and coaching. 

The yogic model of health is unique because it addresses every aspect of life rather than considering each body part or system separately.  

Underlying the yoga therapy model that Carmen practices is the eight limb system of Classical Raja yoga. Raja yoga is an ancient lineage of yoga also known as the 'eightfold path' where the declared goal is to experience the natural state of calm, serenity, peace, communion within, and contentment. 

Carmen integrates her yoga therapy training and knowledge in her integrative somatic therapy practice.
